I have checked in my geforce experience (was clutching at straws with this one) and it says it is optimally set to play at 1440P, although it just defaults to 1080P and the secondary monitor at launch.ĭoes anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to stop it. I have checked the windows settings, they're set up so that my 27" 1440P monitor is the main, with the 24" 1080P one being the secondary. Tried asking on the Total War Warhammer subreddit to no avail so thought I would try my luck here and see if I can get an answer to this mystery.Īfter leaving my computer for long enough yesterday for the screen saver to kick in, TWW2 will now only launch itself on my secondary monitor which is my smaller, lower resolution one. this also disables aero theme and sets windows color to 16bit but in this mode you can command battles which is nice.

everything else works including movies.Ģ) now if i were to set the directX emulation to "none" then game will run in primary display driver and not on software which is a lot better for textures and interface+text but if you want to start a new game it will crash right before campaign screen.
the only problem with this is that if you want to command battles the game will crash.
i didn't make any changes anywhere, entered game path and just put my desired resolution ticked 'keep aspect ratio' and 'desktop center' and on the direct X "emulation primary surface". i do not have the steam version, i have a really old cd with shogun warlord edition and i managed to make it work in window mode.

This morning, after a reboot with windows updates, the situation is slightly different: the steam menu keep saying that I have video drivers not updated, the game is still working without DxWnd, but if I run DxWnd something strange happens: if I run the game from Steam, it crashes, if I run it from the DxWnd menu or simply double clicking Medieval_TW.exe it works.ġ) i have DXWnd version 2.03.84.fx1 and i am on windows 7 64. I wonder if Steam people did anything in the meanwhile: whoever has problems may compare its product release with mine (in the main menu page there's a "v2.01 pe") and check for game updates? I may try to fix that, just in case someone is interested. After the Steam download, I tried to run the game on Win10 and it WORKED PERFECTLY! So, now, what should I repair?Īctually, it works pretty much ok also with DxWnd in windowized mode (but with so many troops on the screen one may wonder why it should be useful to reduce the game size!) apart from a mouse disalignement that works as if the window was on top-left corner. What a misfortune! I knew I was doing something useless.
